The goal of the JNE Welding Social Committee is to provide an opportunity for employees and their families to socialize outside the workplace thereby strengthening interpersonal relationships, creating a sense of community within the JNE family.
All employees of JNE are welcome to become a member of the Social Committee and to gain the experience of working within this type of team environment. There are many ways to be involved with the Committee including executive positions consisting of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary, event specific coordinators and volunteers and, of course, general membership.
The JNE Social Committee is proud to be involved in the planning and hosting of annual events such as the JNE Summertime Barbeque and the Children’s Christmas Party. Although a JNE corporate sponsored event, the committee also plays a major role in organizing JNE’s annual staff Christmas party.
Every year, since 2005, the Social Committee has been involved in coordinating the JNE employee gift of Christmas. Each fall the Social Committee chooses a local charity or project that will benefit from some extra help at Christmas time. In the past we have been involved with Denny Carr’s Secret Santa, Brent and Penny’s Adopt a Family and The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Center. As a company JNE has generously matched the money raised by employees. We are always impressed with the generosity of JNE Welding and the employees in supporting these great causes.
Throughout the year the Social Committee also plans and hosts a number of events such as bowling and pool tournaments, badminton nights, paintball games, ski/snowboarding trips, a trip to a Saskatchewan Roughrider’s game and lunch time barbeques.
This active and energetic group is always open to new ideas for events and certainly invites employees to become members and event volunteers.
The Social Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month during the lunch hour.
